Infosys is poised for further expansion through acquisitions, particularly in the sectors of data analytics and Software as a Service (SaaS), according to statements made by CEO Salil Parekh in a recent interview with the Press Trust of India (PTI). The second-largest IT services firm has already completed two acquisitions this year and is actively exploring additional opportunities to enhance its capabilities.
Mr. Parekh emphasized that, while the company has successfully ventured into engineering services, it is also keen on expanding its reach into other fields. He specifically highlighted data analytics and SaaS as key areas of interest, indicating a strategic aim to diversify the company’s portfolio. Furthermore, he mentioned that Infosys may consider acquisitions in various geographical markets, including Europe and the United States.
Particularly, Mr. Parekh pointed out that Infosys is on the lookout for acquisitions comparable in size to its recent purchase of in-tech Holding, which was valued at approximately 450 million euros or around ₹4,045 crore. Earlier in January, Infosys acquired InSemi Technology Services, an Indian semiconductor design firm, for up to ₹280 crore, and subsequently acquired in-tech Holding in Germany, enhancing its engineering research and development capabilities.
In evaluating potential acquisitions, Mr. Parekh indicated that several factors would be considered, including strategic synergies, financial implications, cultural compatibility, and the feasibility of integration. This approach underscores Infosys’s commitment to strategic growth as it continues to solidify its position in the competitive IT landscape.
